No doubt there were many instances of abuse of this scheme, but what many people seem to be unaware of, or have forgotten, is that the majority of legitimate installations are quite rightly recompensed in repayments for not just the fuel used, but also for the capital cost of the installation - which would be something like £50-60K for an average size biomass boiler, as opposed to £4-6K for an ordinary boiler. In my case payback will be about 20 years - exactly the length of time HMG guarantees repayments for. |  |

Ah right, wasn't aware of that, thanks for the explan. I had to go through incredibly stringent personal checks, & remember one phone convo with Ofgem in which I said it was ridiculous that they were asking whether the installation was enclosed by 4 walls & a roof. He said "you'd be surprised at what some farmers have tried on"! When installation was finished, it had to be commissioned in the physical presence of an Ofgem Inspector. | |
