Oh yes, they don't like the jagged edges at all. You want the incisions nice and sharp and long enough to peel back a bit. I also cut out 3 sides of the bottoms first, before putting in the compost and seeds. That way you can peel them back when they're ready to go into the ground and leave them in the pots to protect the stems of the young plants. If that makes sense. So like I say, runners, French beans and mange tout; those kind of plants that can get decimated early on. [Post edited 2 May 2020 19:34]
