Right, my friends are adamant that there was a McDonald’s special burger from Euro ‘96 called the Euro McDouble and there was an advert with Alan Shearer. We can’t find any trace of this online, ANYWHERE.
It rings a bell with me, but I can’t tell anymore if that’s just because they have spoken about it so much.
Does anyone else remember this?

The answer is rather dull sadly, 2000 is about the earliest internet archive goes for the McDonald's UK website whilst I was finding something else. Perhaps they didn't even have a website before this date?
Whilst flicking through it I noticed this Euro 2000 promotion, having no memory of it I googled the name of the burger. This is the only mention of it anywhere online and as you were asking about it, I felt a civic duty to provide you somewhat of an answer.
As with the Colin Healy quote stuff, I could only find this: When once asked “what does it feel like to be the best player in the world?” Zidane reportedly replied: “I don't know, ask Colin Healy.”
