Seen some good advice on here recently about buying used cars so thought I'd pick your collective brains. Once upon a time you used to be able to knock the price down quite a bit with a dealer if you weren't part exchanging - is that still the case? Looking to spend about £5-6k on a Ford if that's relevent. |  |

Yes it is definitely still the case.
You need to be assertive and be prepared to walk away if you don't get what you want, obviously within reason. For example if you have £5k to spend don't take the piss by haggling over a £10k car but a £6k car is fair game.

Yes, you don’t have anything to trade so you are in the driving seat, remember be firm but don’t say too much, let them do the talking, be attentive but don’t look overly interested in anything but your own expectations of the deal, remember you are in control they need THAT sale, you have options. |  | | |
