As I've pointed out before, there are reasons other than govermental competence why countries are having different experiences with Covid. It's not a monolithic, uniform disease, but a network of strains, having different infection rates and lethalities.

Tho the Aussie authorities' willingness to go for a tight and strictly-enforced lockdown in Victoria does seem to have suppressed the outbreak there.
