Evans keeps crapping on about 'how much funding' etc etc. but had the approach of one of his 5 points actually been adopted and rather than employing knackered injury prone journeyman and assorted and largely sundry loanees but played and developed the talent we have had coming through the Academy would be

1, be at the same level in league 1?

2, be financially better off as we have saved a fortune in the players we have brought in and possibly rather a transfer fee or two from the better developed academy players

A good number of our first team squad this season has come through the academy though, the problem we have being in League 1 is that we can not cash in the likes of Downes as we would in the Championship.

Experience remains important in football though, the start to 2018-19 demonstrates that.
