Cricket... 05:47 - Jan 14 with 3841 views | bluewein | My cat's always a noisy little bastard at around 4 in the morning, so I've happily used it as a tactical alarm for the beginning of the test match. 3 overs played in half an hour due to delays in an empty ground because of a dodgy sight screen. Test cricket. Please don't ever change... [Post edited 14 Jan 2021 5:58]

It's proper attritional cricket and a good learning curve for the side, none the less.

Yes, if England get a good first innings score - and Jayawardene thought 250 would be that - then they are in a very good position. Lots of errors from Sri Lanka today, a bit like the start of last Summer in England there's probably a lot of rustiness with anything other than T20. And more importantly, it's made a wet, cold January morning much more enjoyable (even if I had to turn it off to do some work after SL all out).

Yeah very good day for England. Nice to start a series well, for once. Really hope Root goes on & gets a hundred tomorrow & get a big year for him, both as captain & batsman, off to a flyer.
