A mgr has got to be consistent in his expectations and reproach when those standards are not met, if they are to get respect from their players. The levels of inconsistency from him have been baffling, he has said players are too nice and needed to get better at the nasty side of the game, some have taken that more literally than others, though few of our red cards have been truly malicious, more frustration, or lack of skill, fitness, timing, etc. It’s no coincidence that when we have had better Ipswich teams playing well, we’ve had very good discipline record too. You need to have clear standards and punishments, treat everyone the same within those then draw a line under it and move on once dealt with. I think it was mentioned on KOA that Lambert & Taylor constantly in 4th officials ear and confronting officials every match so setting poor examples themselves. |
The total opposite to the team that was relegated from the premiership. We won the fair play league to win a place in the Uefa Cup. It was a bonus for us fans who travelled, however you should expect a worse disciplinary record for a team scrapping at the bottom.
