I think one of the best things that can potentially come out of this take over is accountability. One of the biggest issues we’ve had is that we’ve had an owner with very little knowledge of running a football club who hasn’t had to answer to anyone, his decisions alone shaped the football club throughout our decline and there was no one above him to question his decisions or results.
Now with the consortium we will have a group of people who do have decent knowledge of how to run a football club, and they will be accountable for their decisions and actions. Whoever heads up the hedge fund that is bank rolling the takeover isn’t going to be on their case after every loss, but they will be expecting to see a club with a financial upward trajectory. In turn this means results on the pitch, it means promotion, it means improvements at the ground and getting fans wanting to spend money at the club. That can only be a good thing and if we’re not making that progress towards being worth more money after their first year of ownership then these people will be asking some serious questions and demanding answers; one of the key things we’ve been missing during the Evans era. |  |
