Poor tactics 18:16 - Oct 30 with 320 views

I’ve written this on notes waiting for my delayed train back from Plymouth so sorry if this has been said by others already.

I get that we were limited in terms of personnel but why did Coulson play on the right? Surely it would have made more sense to put him in front of Penney, especially when it became obvious that Penney was having an off day. Edwards can play both sides so it made no sense to have both right-sided players out of position. The issues with Penney were obvious before the goal but should’ve been rectified at half time at the latest, with Celina coming on earlier. It shows how important Wes Burns is to the team, the difference between his performances and Coulson’s today was night and day. Woolfenden was never going to get forward so the threat had to come from the winger on that side and it never came.

The ref was probably the worst I’ve ever seen but I don’t think that masks the result - we were second best throughout and didn’t deserve a point.
