If he'd come here on loan and done really well, why would we not pay £4m for him to play in the championship? Just the sort of deal Ashton would like, as if he then had a decent season in the champ his value would multiply. If the loan is a flop, then comparatively little harm done.
Not to worry though, we were outgunned by a Champ team. We couldn't offer champ football and we wouldn't want to go too far over the odds on wages to compensate for that.
