I'm very meh about the royal family on 20:13 - Sep 9 by SlippinJimmyJuan | I felt some sadness at the news yesterday, although I have to say the wall to wall coverage of people saying vague and meaningless things and social media being awash with black and white arguments about very grey issues is starting to wear thin. I can't understand why there needs to be a journalist permanently stationed outside the Palace as if the situation is suddenly going to change. Worst of all for me is the competitive grieving. So many broad statements just being chucked about by some. It's surprisingly hard to avoid the news, which I guess is why so many people seem so worked up about it. I don't have any problem with people paying their respects, I don't really care that they've just turned BBC 1 into a 24 hour royal family livestream, I just feel a bit like the level and lack of quality of said coverage is a bit disingenuous. |
Absolutely. I also LOATHE the phrase "my thoughts are with the family at this time." It's trotted out by everyone, is hackneyed, cliched, meaningless and frankly lazy. If you really care, come up with something personal and original. | |
