Independent Football Regulator 10:14 - Feb 23 with 488 viewsDJR

I am not sure if the Independent Football Regulator is the answer, but interesting to hear Rick Parry say on the Today Programme this morning that the gap in turnover between the Premier League and the EFL in 1992 was £11 million, but is now £3 billion.

As someone who grew up in the 1960s and 70s, I much prefer the more egalitarian game in those days.

I caught a bit on R5l earlier about an idea being floated of the UK Govt.potentially becoming the regulator for UK football ... wtf??! As if they haven't ballsed up everything else in the country that they've supposedly been 'responsible' for!

Poll: Town's most cultured left foot ever?

I think football needs a regulator now more than ever before, Motty stated a few years ago on 5 live that a well know and respected agent told him that 50% of money spent in the transfer window would not be accounted for, this was when the Janurary transfer window spend topped £1 billion for the first time. A combination of fit and proper club owners checks, fair spread of money through the 4 leagues, checks on exactly where transfer funds end up and possible super league break away are more than enough reasons that an independent regulator, not government regulator is required.
