Feeling horribly conflicted. 12:11 - May 28 with 3576 views | BanksterDebtSlave | Currently spending a lot of time assisting Junior Slave into a life of debt slavery. Today was chosing hall's or residence for her first year training to be a mental health nurse. She is literally going to be paying through the nose for the rest of her working life for the pleasure of working in the public sector. There really is no such thing as society any more.

Regarding the premise referenced in the book review it seems self evidently true....maybe I will get it in for her in case she wants some holiday reading. We @narchist types seem to end up with great kids....must just be lucky!

Feeling horribly conflicted. on 06:42 - May 29 with 604 views | LegendofthePhoenix | If she is absolutely certain she wants to go into nursing then that's brilliant and good on her. However, there are other healthcare professions that don't get talked about nearly so much. If she is any good at science, there is a real shortage of healthcare scientists, so much so that there are now plenty of opportunities to get an apprentice role after A levels, and to actually get paid, and get your part-time degree paid, so no student debt and a good career path. Maybe that's not for her, but if it's of any interest, pm me. Best of luck to her.

Feeling horribly conflicted. on 09:33 - May 29 with 559 views | WD19 | I am getting through it by reassuring myself that at some point in the future one of the political teams will be desperate enough for votes that they will promise to cancel all student debt…..or at least invent some less punitive mechanism for it. The thing I find most difficult to swallow is that as an adult junior WD19a has her loan potential capped by the amount other adults she no longer lives with earn. In short, if I did not sub her accommodation she could not afford to go to university in the autumn.

The accommodation is pretty much all of the grant gone isn't it and medical students have longer terms than most due to placements. Due to our relatively low incomes Junior has been offered about an extra 1.5k on top of the nominal loan maximum but this is also in the form of a loan rather than a grant so she gets the pleasure of even more potential debt to pay off.
