Challenging Surrey County Council over its granting of planning permission for oil well drilling at Horse Hill. The Council think its OK to ignore the climatic impact of the end use of the oil, just so long as the drilling site and activities are greenwashed.

"Planning authorities say that they don't need to consider the climate impacts of the actual burning of the oil - just from the drilling. It's like saying a chocolate cake is low calorie as long as you don't eat it," Ms Finch, who campaigns with local organisation Weald Action Group, told BBC News.

How can we possibly go on being this stupid as we hurtle towards our self-made destiny? What sort of local council could be insane or corrupt enough to allow this? It's like we are complicit in a crazy suicide pact and racing to see who can get there first.
