I randomly read this thread on Twitter the other day, had no idea who he was but clearly willing to give of his time and expertise to anyone:

He was in teacher training when he saw a ad for a radio commentator on the notice board.
He got the job but as there very few matches covered at that time, he completed his training and taught for years alongside the commentating. His whole family helped him in the commentary box. A true champion of Irish culture and language and a poet of the airwaves.

Ni bheidh a leithead aris ann ( we shall not see his like again ).
