Glad attacking football won really. 22:29 - Jul 14 with 1049 views | FromReuserWithLove | Risk adverse containment tactics are just so disappointing. A brave manager wins the last two euros. Such a shame but the stats will dress it up as a successful era when in reality it's just another wasted one. Suppose we've got lots emotive documentaries to look forward to. Oh so close, oh so England.
Glad attacking football won really. on 22:34 - Jul 14 with 1010 views | Europablue | I never want England to lose, so I had to downvote you being glad Spain won. The silver lining is that we can hopefully find a much more positive manager. Euro 96 was amazing as was 98. The two most entertaining managers we've had since I've been watching.

98 was awful. We went out in the second round. Surely you’re getting your wires crossed or just taking the p!ss?

When we compare with some other countries, a huge gap in trophies won (Uruguay for example...2 World Cups and 15 Copa America wins). We will win a trophy at some point again....I hope :)

Doesn't help comparing histories. We are a long way behind some teams (France- 6 trophies, Italy- 7 trophies, Brazil- 20 trophies, Argentina- 19 trophies, Spain- 6 trophies, Germany- 9 trophies). We are a long way in front of others (Scotland-0, Wales-0, Northern Ireland-0). We won the most important trophy of the lot. Imagine if we had lost that, 58 years of hurt would turn into 152 years of hurt!

The 1962 League Cup was a watered down competition (top teams didn't participate)- hence the final against Rochdale. To add- they've won more trophies than that (Texaco Cup Runners Up Shield, Full Members Cup, Friendship Trophy, Willhire Cup to name just a few). They've been Division 2 and Division 3 Champions. "On the ball city" is the oldest football song. They are the only English team to beat Bayern Munich at Bayern. They've won the East Anglian Cup and Invitation Cup on multiple occasions.
