To finally see us play a game in the Premier league after all this time is amazing. I’ve said before how I’ve gone to school, college, uni and not once seen another Ipswich fan and been laughed at while everyone discusses West Ham or Arsenal or Man U. Nobody cared about how Ipswich got on in our annual race for 15th. Most whenever I’d mention Ipswich would have to ask ‘what division are you in these days?’. We weren’t relevant on the footballing axis. But today (and indeed these last couple of years) the footballing world are jealous of us. Lots of teams and fanbases would give anything for the togetherness of our club right now between us fans, players, management and ownership. We might be hammered today. We might end up going straight back down. But to see us play a premier league game will be an amazing experience. All those Rommy reports from games we’ve lost in places like Cardiff with 0 shots on target, or at Rotherham when we made 9 changes and got beat, or at Fulham when we had like 21% possession… all of that is worth it for this last two years. I was and am always proud to have been able to say Ipswich is MY team no matter who found it hilarious or didn’t know who we are. But everyone knows now. And finally lots of fanbases wish they were us. | |
