Saying its a good time to play the big guns 00:19 - Aug 19 with 1365 viewsAB_ITFC

I think its a good time to play us. From what we saw against Liverpool we’ve got the makings of an incredible team. Greives will be amazing. Phillips will get back to his best under Keiran. Hutch will be a menace. I cannot wait to see how good we are come Christmas.

Probably a good thing all round.

We get these teams before they get any momentum when they'll be even harder to beat.

They get us before our team is complete and really Premier League ready and before we've bedded in new players into the system.

Most importantly, whilst we aren't quite ready we are arguably not leaving any points on the table so to speak. We'd likely lose to Liverpool and City regardless, so I'd rather not be looking back thinking if only we had this side and this system in August when we lost points to Forest, Everton, Wolves etc.

If we put up another good show Saturday then it could be, in a weird way, better over the course of the season than a win against a relegation rival because we will know we can potentially get a result against any team in this league once we are fully up to speed.

Will be important to pick some points up over the first six though. If you offered me 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats out of the first six then I'd probably take that whilst everything was being bedded in.

The way McKenna attacks teams though, it's not impossible it ends up with 2 or 3 wins and 3 or 4 defeats.

In the end we have to play them all. For us we are under cooked, you are never ready for the PL as a promoted team. You stay in the league by learning and adapting quickly otherwise the season is over. To get the minimum points required for survival you can certainly still loose plenty of games. Having these two early means hopefully there will be periods of the season where we are not meeting teams that break our momentum in the way these can!
