In response to LeistonBlue's thread...

Northern games by LeistonBlue 24 Aug 2024 0:58
This is our last game up north until the 25th January (assuming you classify Nottingham and wolves as midlands).

No mire 5am away day wake ups for a while! Perks of the premier league eh

...I love map stuff and use OpenStreetMap and route planners and topographical maps and all sorts, but I couldn't think of a format that showed latitude/longitude grid lines of the top of my head.

Just came across this app...

https://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm

...which allows grid lines to be added, but which also has a brilliant side-by-side configurable two map view with various types of map usable. I expect other map nerds will already be aware of it, but if anyone is interested...

That site used to be brilliant for comparing modern and historical maps (e.g. for pre-urban renewal street layouts, or following old railway lines). But recently the old OS stuff seems to have become unavailabe.

I think I read a note somewhere that it might be to do with a limited number of free tile views per month from the data suppliers, so have a look early in the month if you need want to access it.

Talking of maps...a few months ago met guy selling 1/2500 large scale Ordnance survey maps of East Suffolk at an antique fair. Bought a couple of them, he said had another 80 or so. All dated 1926 or 1927. Arranged to visit him to see if worth buying in bulk at huge discount. Bought them. Amazing detail, will keep most but may have some spares...
