I think we need to ban the predominantly white ones as the light up the whole stadium and change the atmosphere.

Yes. They are terribly distracting. Also I would think that they are in danger of bringing on epileptic fits. Awful things.

Yes, those visibly change the light levels in the stadium as the bright white light flashes on and off. They are designed to take our (or more importantly the global TV audience's) attention away from the football and onto the ads.
