McKenna joined half way through the season & in his 23 games, Town picked up 44pts. Repetition of that in the first half & we would have been in the play-offs.

Not a valid comparison in that although he had 23 matches he didn't face all 23 teams in the division, actually had Gillingham twice, 6 points and they were relegated and didn't face eventual play off winners Sunderland at all. Doubling 44 is a simplistic false assumption. We were 11th when he took over and despite an improved second half of that season under KM we finished in 11th. Obviously did much better the next season but he's still managed more games in L1 than in Champ & Prem combined. [Post edited 31 Dec 2024 15:00]

Read this twice and genuinely don't know what point you are trying to make or why? Almost sounds to be putting some negative shade on what he did in L1 particularly when he took over?

Indeed, McKenna massively improved the effectiveness of Cook's squad, with minimal changes in January. Showed how much better a coach he is than Paul Cook.

Exactly. We got some real initiative going and got back in race. We fell short in that first half season but only once we couldn't really catch and we slid back a bit at the end understandably. But you could see the foundations were laid in those 23 games albeit he didn't implement the style/system we now know straight away that season.
