Just discovered this on YouTube

A nice US perspective on the ITFC investment

Ed Swartz's understanding of the American 'arrogance', is so key to why these investors 'get it', in my opinion.

And Ashton's appreciation of the investment and how he should spend it is very wholesome. It feels too good to be true!

Thanks for that. It really does feel too good to be true.

Our staying up seems more critical than I've considered before, especially in terms of finding replacements for the assets which change hands in football all the time: trainers and top players. But I sense Mark Ashton truly loves his new home and will be a longstay at the club.

No person has done more for the club over the last few years than Mark Ashton and I want to believe in him to continue to take us forward over the next decade regardless of who our next head coach will be.

I didn't know that this year would be Ed Sheeran's last as shirt sponsor. It will be interesting to know who's next once our survival in the EPL is confirmed.

Staying up would obviously be massive, we’ve got the basis of a really exciting side with young prospects. We’re a bit hamstrung currently with carrying a handful of players who, not for a lack of will, are perhaps finding this level a step too far. IF we can stay up and ‘rotate’ 6 or 7 of those in the summer for replacements in the Hutchinson, Delap, Cajuste league then I really do think we’re on a very good path and capable of consolidating ourselves in the 10th - 15th bracket over the next year or 2. I could well see Al-Hamadi, Harry Clarke, Luongo moving out, maybe even Burgess to make way for a left sided centre half who can also cover on the left which is an area where we don’t currently have the versatility. I wouldn’t rule out 1 or 2 of Woolfy, Chaplin, Broadhead (as good as he’s looked lately), Taylor moving on too as we would inevitably go through that 2nd season upgrade process. Maybe 1 or 2 of Clarke, Szmodics, Ogbene, Burns as well over the next 12 months. Of course staying up is still a fairly big IF given the established clubs we’re up against but if we manage it and can keep McKenna there’s really no reason why we couldn’t emulate the paths of clubs like Brentford, Bournemouth or Fulham

All that said if we do go down we’ll be well placed to challenge at Championship level. We’ll inevitably lose 2 or 3 plus both current loanees, but we’ll still be left with a squad of players well proven towards the top end of that level.
