Over the years I've written with pride of the exploits of my youngest Offspring, her time with Volunteer Police Cadets; Best New Recruit across the 32 London Boroughs, commendations from the Borough Commander for her work with CID (Safeguarding at hotels - strangely there was a BBC article about this subject yesterday) and for saving a cyclists life following an RTC. She wanted to be a Police officer, but I persuaded her she was too small. She wanted to be a lawyer, but didn't want to go to Uni, and getting apprenticeships appeared to be be about who you know. She got herself her first job, part time pub work, before leaving school. But as she couldn't get into law I put her forward for job with my firm. She impressed the interviewers, then impressed wider management to the extent she earned a place on the managerial team just over a year after joining. But her passion has always been Law & Order, she'd returned to Cadets as a staff member recently and one of the other staff members showed her a vacancy that might be of interest to her.... So, now many years after first joining Volunteer Police Cadets she's soon to be joining the Met, her salary including London Weighting exceeds that she receives as a manager and that's before shift allowances. Office based role, but can't say more than that for now. Just the small matter of commuting to Hendon from South London for training.... | |
