I promise I don't make a habit of going there, but I thought I'd have a look at Fox News to see if there was any sign of them turning on that 80 year old, dim-witted, cold, conscienceless, sh!t-throwing infant they have in charge of the United States these days.

Not so much; but I was quite interested by some of the things raised in the following - which everybody else may already have known but hadn't really registered with me in the hell that is 2025 - like Obama trying to force a primary, or whatever they call it, and Harris thinking she was sure to win. What a fk up it all was, what a horrible, ridiculous, pathetic, deadly fk up. Let's hope they've learned their lessons once and for all, and hope there's actually an opportunity to exercise democracy in 2028.

As an interested outside observer who is a slightly more well informed than the average Brit but a million miles from being an expert... they seem like a rudderless, uncoordinated mess. A half-competent party would surely have destroyed Trump at the last election. What they should be doing is uniting and throwing their collective weight behind a single candidate NOW, get them out there and in the public eye, get people to associate this person with them and become a figurehead so that in 2028 they are seen as 'presidential'. Ok, by then the election may be a fait acompli due to no doubt enormous shenanigans from Trump and his cronies across the Govt, states and courts, but come on, give it a bloody good go, surely.

Unfortunately, think it's more likely democracy in the US will be exorcised before 2028.

One part of the problem is who? The Democratic Party is split between progressive and centrist wings. Biden was the best they could do as a compromise candidate. The obvious alternatives have flaws of age, experience, or (in a US scenario) gender, race and sexuality. To overcome that they'd need to be a brilliantly smooth political operator, like Obama.

Plus American politics doesn't work in a way to throw up an obvious leader of the opposition. There is no counterpart to the President on the other side, no vehicle for them to demonstrate leadership. No PMQs to challenge the narrative.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
