I had to turn the radio off rather listen to that appalling representative of that obscene regime offer up a thick coating of bullsh!t to justify his chums' persecution and ongoing murder of the poor people of Gaza.
I know it's unfair to tarnish a whole nation with the actions of its government, but I don't think I'll be able to think of Israel as anything but 'that evil nation' ever again. That's what they've done to me, not that that matters, in much the same way that my grandfather could never think of the Germans as anything but evil.
We let these things slide off our radar a bit, don't we. Like climate change, like misogyny - it's still happening right now. And our governments are so slow to reach the inevitable point at which they condemn. Meanwhile thousands die or are ethnically cleansed away as we turn a blind eye.
It's a massive disgrace on our species and the ridiculous idea that we are somehow an evolved civilised race. Shame on us. |  |
