I get from the media that the strike by Iran on the American base was just for domestic consumption.
They gave a warning beforehand and the base was disused anyway so as not to annoy the yanks too much. |
Of course, any sign of weakness and the populace will rise up against the Iranian regime. In an earlier attack Iran launched more drones and missiles than any attack by Russia in Ukraine, most of which was shot down by the West, Israel, and neighbouring states. So it would be a futile exercise to respond anything more than a token exchange (not to mention they can’t afford it).
I was challenging the assertion in the cartoon that Iran is totally innocent, when over 90,000 children have been killed or starved in Yemen as a result of Iran trying to topple the Yemeni government. It seems some are willing to turn a blind eye to Iranian genocide for some reason. |  | | |

Parts of it sound like performative theatre; like that Iranian strike and the diversion of Israeli planes/bombs after Trump’s intervention although still going through with something just for the domestic audience. It all seems pretty bizarre to me. Almost comedic (although obviously people have been dying, do it’s not funny when the bombs do get through). |  |
