The real challenge 11:28 - Aug 4 with 480 views | wiltshireblue | I have been reading everyone's posts and the flouncing - we should sign this person, we shouldn't have let this person go etc etc. And lots of people of course know better than the club themselves However for me, I don't really care who we do or don't sign - I just want those players who are here to want to be here and want to play for us and run that extra mile, I want a team rather than a bunch of individuals with their own agendas. After all that is what got us through those testing times and a back to back promotion to the premier league. That I guess is why I feel the likes of Morsy and Luongo are big losses - they wore their heart on their sleeve and put their effort in for the team. Whether they were the best / good enough or whatever really isn't always the primary factor - it's the heart and application to get you through when needed. We are in a transitional period, we progressed quickly and last summer lots of people jumped on board (including Hutchinson becoming permanent) as we could offer them a ticket to play in the Premier League and they took it. It doesn't mean they felt an affinity to us or the group that had got us there, and now we see them jump off now that we don't serve their purpose. Also others who we think are 'good enough' are not wanting to join as we can't offer Premier League football. Success for me is being able to watch a game and know regardless of the result the team have left everything on the pitch and put their heart and soul in with a never say die attitude, we had that for a couple years to get us from L1 to Premier league and also back in 1999-2001. They were the best years for me of watching Town. Not because we won, but the application and way we battled. In my opinion the biggest success isn't the name we sign but the attitude and application. The risk comes from trying to sign 'names' and appease supporter expectation, rather than truly being the right fit [Post edited 4 Aug 11:34]

The real challenge on 11:51 - Aug 4 with 376 views | RIPbobby | We have played so well pre season and have a good side. But our backup is a bit thin on the ground. Not the time for panic yet with a good 3 weeks on the window left. More injuries will add to the problem.

Agree 100% with that, and we don't seem to have faired well with injuries in recent years. Let's see who we get onboard, my point being is I don't think they all need to be multi million pound players as this doesn't guarantee attitude and application. And our lack of PL status doesn't guarantee them wanting to join anyway

You've ascribed that spirit to our successful sides, when we were fighting but also winning in droves. "Getting through" was delivering wins. We've had seasons in between where heart and application were there imo, but that application equated to trudging around an average division. The spirit pops out when we're achieving lots of last-gasp victories, but this requires a serious dose of talent, more than we've had at our disposal most years. We could sign a great group of lung-busting lads today, not deliver great things on the pitch, and my gut tells me they wouldn't be acknowledged for their heart and application, even if they did the best they could. Some of the 24/25 crop spring to mind aha. I think you really want a successful team again, based on the years you've enjoyed most, as do I. 🤞
