Sorry, another Chappers thread 18:06 - Sep 1 with 558 views | Dyland | Is there one of these new fangled obligations to buy clauses in his loan? In the current market he's worth what, 6 odd million if there's more time on his contract? Contract up at end of season yeh? So he goes for free if there's no 'OTB'? Have we just got the wages off the books? Doing him a favour? Not sure the move makes much sense, regardless of the emotive stuff.

Yes, the only way that option or obligation could be included would be if he extended his contract with us first and he doesn't appear to be in our plans.

So, out of contract at the end of the season like Broadhead was too, that we just got up to £10 million for, you mean?

Of course... can't be an OTB that's effective when this contract ends. Maybe it kicks in in January :) All a bit meh isn't it. Not arguing the upgrade m/o, one way or the other, more missing out on a fee. I guess sh1t happens and all in all it's a knock we can absorb.

The difference being that we sold him. Chaplin's is set to be a loan with a recall option in January.

broady wasn't on a season-long loan. op was asking if we'd put in an otb at the end of the season-long loan

I know. what I don't get is why let him go on loan for the last year of his contract - if we're not going to use him, which I think we should btw, wouldn't it be better to sell than loan? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I guess the only advantage of the loan is the option to recall in January.

but in reality, what likelihood is there of us activating that do you think? We're likely to be doing more shopping?
