This is now a very high stakes game 18:27 - Sep 1 with 238 viewsredrickstuhaart

Financially, of course. The investment is enormous and we have see time and again, clubs which throw money at their team and lose their coherence, can go horribly wrong.

But more than that. It is much much easier for supporters to have patience in players they know, feel connected to, and trust. Players who we have seen perform at a high level, and who have been seen to give their all for the side.

If Chappers has a poor game, we know its temporary, we know he's giving his best, and we know what his best can be. We can make allowances, be patient with those players who have proved themselves already.

But when Clarke has another poor game, or Billy Jean, or one of the many other new faces, the patience will wear very quickly, especially with the price tags attached. Crowd could really turn very fast here. KM needs to get this new side functioning properly very soon. And some luck will be needed with that- knitting togetehr a cohesive side both on and off pitch, is not an exact science.
