As painful as it is for a lot of us, sometimes the hard choices have to be made. The promotion back to back winning team is long gone, the majority unfortunately were proven to not be good enough for the top flight. Whether the replacements are, only time will tell. Whether some of the players got a fair crack at PL football is down to debate. If you look where the players that left today have gone, none of them have been snapped up by Premier League clubs, maybe some with Premier League ambitions but none currently in the top flight. That in itself paints a story. I personally have an incredibly heavy heart today, as Woolfie was a guy I followed for years, even watching him play when he was on loan at Bromley a few times as I used to live locally. It was only the ITFC connection and him that made we go to games there. It sad when an era ends, but it does mean the start of the next. These players will never achieve the folklore as the back to back team did but it doesn't mean they can't write their own history, hopefully an exciting one at that So yes, we are allowed to be sad, and it's good that we are as it shows it meant something, but it doesn't stop us from having a bright future, albeit with different characters telling the story. We just have to remember that we are Ipswich Town, no matter who pulls on the shirt. Uppa Towen | |
