Measuring the economy in Toasties 09:47 - Sep 5 with 6222 views | wkj | In the age of smashed burgers and hot honey brioche it is hard to keep up, and there I was thinking the rebranding of Toasties to Paninis was bad enough! Either way, times are always changing. Me and my beloved legal partner were travelling the other day (within England, we're not bougie) and ended up pulling off for a mouthful of grub. Not really looking at the price, as we had no choice, I ordered a cheese and onion toastie while they got the BLT (maybe they are bougie, imagine adding salad to a perfectly good bacon sarnie.) Vanilla as I am, I ordered a tea and they got a coffee (despite an awkwardly long description of "coffee") Needless to say, a pretty conservative meal which I was mentally thinking about £15 (£20 when you factor in motorway tax). The whole meal came to £35! Two toasties and 2 hot drinks for £35. Thatcher's Britain I tell thee! I should have had a biscuit instead.

Though if we're now going on to things "I should like, but do" 1. Findus Crispy Pancakes 2. Bernard Manning's Golden Drummers 3. Birdseye potato waffles [Post edited 7 Sep 19:41]

You forgot their puddings! And who can better meat paste on hot white toast with plenty of butter? [Post edited 8 Sep 9:38]

Just had an horrendous flashback of crab paste on toast.. Sorry, the suety puddings were clearly just as good as their exquisite pies. This is probably as good place to come clean as anywhere, but in the late 80,s I was mad for pot noodle poured over chips. Tasty and a tad exotic

Micro, oven or a portion bought from the local chippy for a real treat.. I also should probably confess to eating buttery pot noodle sandwiches on more then 1 occasion
