First one since the Bristol Rovers cup game and first in league since our last home win. Going forward we def looked good but keeping a clean sheet is a big thing. Sheffield utd were poor but even in the past we have lost concentration and ended up winning these types of games 4-1 or 5-1. O’Shea’s marshalling of the defence is getting better, he’s calling the line much quicker. As a defensive unit last night when the ball was cleared the line was pushed up much faster than previous games so restricted the space in the midfield if it went back to a sheff utd player. Even better was that if it went to a Town player, the quick push out means there were more players in blue supporting the break. The defence combined with Matusiwa and Cajuste playing in from looked very good, passing needs to be a bit sharper but that’s a confidence thing rather than ability. A lot will be made of the goals scored and how the forwards have come together, but I think all of that was built on a more agile and solid defensive performance providing the support to go forward. I think for all the goals you will see either Davis, Greaves or Furlong in or around the edge of the area, supporting the attack and taking defenders away. [Post edited 13 Sep 8:25]
