Other observations from last night:
I think Hirst is getting a bit of unfair criticism. He was a PITA for the SU defenders all match, held the ball up well and showed a lovely bit of skill for his goal (as well as a blatant handball tbf, but f*** VAR).
Matusiwa is like having an extra player on the pitch, who tackles as well as any other defender.
Furlong can defend.
Jack Clarke is very good at chesting the ball. Having him and Philogene as leftsided options is frighteningly good.
Nunez is great fun and a hard b***ard. Would have gone crazy if the freekick had gone in.
Leif is quietly playing well.
Philogene is going to terrorise the league.
The Norwegian lad (as he is officially known) has some shot on him.
The central defence looks a bit – I don’t know: out of step? We’re also struggling to play out from the back still. Greaves does a good left winger impression though.
Thought SU were actually good, but watching the highlights their defending was somewhat sub-par. Fans kept going as well.
