Watched it for the second time tonight on one of the satellite channels. He was an extraordinary character. I think to hold the respect of the likes of Ferguson and Guardiola to name but two says it all.
Robson was treated like dirt by Newcastle at the end of his career. They backed players like Dyer and Bellamy and not their manager and couldn’t wait to shovel him out of the door with the blessing of 99% of the supporters.
Dressing it up after he died with crocodile tears and a poxy statue of Charles Bronson’s love child playing pocket billiards doesn’t change that.
It was a privilege to see his teams play. His greatest legacy though is the £20m raised by his Foundation. Long may it continue.
