I've defended our defence. I've even defended players like Greaves and McAteer. But there are no excuses for that. We controlled the first half as we should've done against an awful Charlton team who had no physicality and no threat up front, but our finishing was shocking. Honestly, how can professional footballers be that bad at the main purpose of the game?
And we were punished for it the second half. I don't think Charlton could believe they were still level at halftime and came out and even more so the first time that their attack really had a go that our defence crumbled. Kipre needs to be in all the way now. Philogene too, although it has to be said that Clarke was one of the few bright spots tonight.
This is by no means a McKenna out post, that would be ridiculous, but he underestimated Charlton with his team selection. We needed to win the game with our settled first eleven (where possible) and then get some of the others game time.
I want those players to be angry and I expect a full-throttled response on Saturday from the start.

I've defended oshea till the cows come home. But christ he was useless that 2nd half. He's been watching the memes of van dyke not being dribbled past by running backwards. I mean who runs backwards whilst opening up an angle for a shot.

Totally agree, he's another one, although I've not felt the need to defend him because he has been solid. But yes, like our defence as a whole in that second half he was awful. | |
