Disappointing all round last night 11:07 - Oct 22 with 161 viewsCheltenham_Blue

I, like most sensible posters watched the first half last night and thought it was only a matter of time until we went 1-0 up. There was literally zero hint that we would end up on the wrong end of a 0-3 scoreline.

The only concern I really had was we were, yet again, finding it so hard to navigate the low block, something that has been our Achilles heel for 3-4 years. Given the quality of player at our disposal, we really should be able to find a way around it. We were reduced to shooting from outside the box almost exclusively, often through 10 men in red shirts.

However, Even after we went 0-1 down, I thought, we go on and win this. But then came a defensive collapse. Many times on here I've seen Greaves 'stats' mentioned, but I just don't see it with my own eyes, frankly he looks error prone at times, and Kipre for me is a significant upgrade and the one change last night I really couldn't understand is rotating Kipre for Greaves.

Our reaction to going behind was abject, totally different to what we've always done before and given we did similar against Boro, I would put some very good money on extensive 'classroom' time today looking at what went wrong, with people taking responsibility for it too, and quite rightly.

Positives: Not many to take away, but thought Clarke was superb and also thought Azor was a real nuisance and incredibly unlucky not to score in the first half.

The refereeing team weren't great either. I'm really not sure that McAteer was offside, it looked exceptionally tight and the assistant referee seemed to give it after being prompted to by the ref. I'm also convinced that we were denied a clear penalty for handball, and that the ball was out of play for their third.

But I'm also disappointed about the reaction on here. People were/are upset after a defeat I get that, we all were, but some comments were becoming a bit direct and personal last night in particular for even daring to attempt to support the team, or for thinking the idea of sacking McKenna at this stage is ridiculous. The kind of reactions we see on here, and on the old social media will 100% not help things move in the right direction again.

However, I've got no doubt, in fact I'm 100% convinced that we'll be there or there about come May.

Follow the town, up or down.
