It was a pretty bad week but ended on a positive. If Hirst slots the Pen and Apkom’s effort thunders in off the underside of the bar everyone would probably be proclaiming us as promotion certainties. Candy and nuts. Today was a result over performance kind of day and we got it over the line. Looking around the league, there is no consistency, Cov are flying, fair play but outside of that, do Boro really look THAT good? Just look at the top 6 in terms of the actual clubs. Surely when we get into a busy winter those squads will start to catch up with them! We are not playing anywhere near our potential. However, everything is right in front of us, literally if any team goes on a run they will be automatic promotion contenders. Looking at the league we would surely be the favorites to do so. Philogene can win games on his own, Nunez has some real quality and there are plenty of individuals developing. Here’s the key for me, try and stick with the same back 4 as often as possible, unless there is a real one for one match up that calls for a change, don’t do it. In terms of rotation it will still happen in 3 game weeks, as we have to take advantage of our depth, however, let’s keep the spine of the team and any partnership that are developing as consistent as possible. The rest in terms of attacking options from the bench, should hopefully take care of itself. I’ve been disappointed with the start to the season but there’s plenty of light at the end of this tunnel. It’s an average league that seems even more chaotic than usual. There’s of course questions to be asked at times when things are not going right but keep that for TWTD and get behind the manager and the team. We are not going to have anyone better to try and get us promoted, start sacking your coach regularly and see what happens, plenty of evidence of what it can lead to. Onwards!
