| I need a poll and some wisdom 14:11 - Oct 29 with 2631 views | Reus30 | Recently, I have been a bit of a journey which I won't bore you with nor is this any kind of fishing. I need to ask a question about societal norms. I would like to think I am warm and supportive person in general but overall, I am a miserable sod. However, I recently opened up to one of my direct family members about my mental wellbeing. I didn't go into too much depth but just said, look, this is the situation, I am trying and it's tough. The response I had back was (without any other discussion or previous), "maybe you should take your own advice" in relation to something I said to them when I was was comforting them about their separate struggles previously. To me, that was a kick in the jewels and on a scale of 1-10, probably a solid 9 in being a terrible person. Google seems to think it was a 10/10 although discouraged me from saying the choice words I want to. So because I can't exactly collect a reasonable sample size in RL without looking like a strange person, I thought I would ask the wise owls over on the TWTD forum. What we thinking, am I overreacting as I am not in the right frame of mind or should I give them a piece of my mind and a fist shake. [Post edited 29 Oct 2025 14:12]

| I need a poll and some wisdom on 23:38 - Sep 9 by Reus30 | Just going through some of my old posts as times have drastically changed in some aspects but completely stayed the same in others. I've lost 7 stone, I'm now a dad after years of trying to get to this point, I've told my loved ones that I love them more and I think it's all because I have just been a little bit more open. I've been quite honest on the web about my struggles with my medication and weight issues but in the last year plus since this thread and a couple of others I've done, In RL, I've just been open about any struggles I've had and it's been a game changer. It kind of weeds out the people you should not spend energy on (like this person who is no longer in my life as of six months ago, not ghosted just said straight up after giving too much away) and then allows you to spend time with those that do appreciate you. Maybe because of that and me asking if people are ok, I've had others come to me to talk about their struggles and medication and life in general and it just makes you feel a little bit better about the world. Sure, still struggling with some MH and maybe go back on some medication but as everyone says, we have to talk more. |
Good stuff man, glad things are looking brighter. | | | |
