Quite a different experience from watching football in England. Their Ultras (Mancha Verde) are something else; they'd been banned from the stadium for a couple of years after fights with Corinthians led to one of their gang being murdered. The constant drumming, singing and bouncing make for a fantastic atmosphere, they didn't seem to watch much of the game, towards the end of the first half they unveiled a tifo that covered the entire end of the stand for 5 minutes (imagine the Suffolk tuts if they did that in the North Stand). In general the football wasn't that impressive, I would put it at top-end Championship quality, ended a 0-0 draw. Technical football, but not as fast and direct as the European game. The ref was a throwback to the 80/90's, overweight and couldn't really keep up with the game, quick to issue yellow cardsto players and wasn't really respected by them...in fact he got shoved a few times. The next off the Palmeiras rank heading to Europe is Allan, who is Estêvão's replacement after he left for Chelsea. A rightsided perfect replacement for Wes Burns was going to suggest Phil mentions him to Kieran today, but apparently, Everton are already on the case. Highly recommend a visit if down in that part of the world.

I was on a corporate gig so not sure on ticket cost but they were available on the club site and apparently very reasonable. One thing is that they use facial recognition across their stadiums to ensure the banned ultras can’t get in! So you have to go through pre screening registration and KYC before you can buy. I’m a regular visitor to Brazil on business so going to get some more games in.
