First and foremost that is the main thing. Extremely hard working side, the starting 11 can honestly say they gave everything. A wonderful goal from Philogene which opened the game up a bit more than Stoke would have wanted. Good use of pace and some wonderful passing in the second half. It maybe should have been easier if we had got the second goal. Perhaps my only gripe was the shooting. But for me we played as well as at any time this season in that second half.

I’ve been pretty critical of the side in recent weeks, right up until the Coventry game, but credit where it’s due, Coventry felt like a real workmanlike performance with the odd bit of quality sprinkled in. Last night, though, I genuinely started to see some nice patterns developing and with the quality we’ve got in this squad, you just know moments of brilliance will come, with Philogenes goal being the perfect example. What is great to see is the players starting to look familiar with each other, understanding where people are going to be, how and where they want to recieve the ball etc.. It’s amazing what a settled side can do..

That said, I think a couple of changes at Leicester might be needed. Not sure exactly where or who just yet. I’d imagine Hirst comes straight back in. Maybe Egeli could do with a breather, although to be fair, he’s improving massively every week. Could even be a chance for McAteer to come in against his old club with a bit of a point to prove.

Overall, a solid, workmanlike game with a flash of brilliance that ultimately won it for us. And I’ve got to say, Stoke impressed me. I can definitely see them being in the play-off mix come the end of the season.
