If he does massive credit to him and all those involved in his development. Its fair to say we are not getting much from our academy at the moment despite the older age PL2 group doing well. Future looks better given the investment but thats a slow process to turnaround failure of the past.

If he continues that he'll be asking the right questions as goal scorers are worth their weight in gold, hopefully he can kick on. It would be great to have a really high ceiling player emerge from the academy, its been a while. The levels between U21 Premier League and senior Championship football are worlds apart though. You think Fin Barbrook is one of the better players in our side (and actually has a better goals per game return from midfield than Mauge does from forward roles), he's a couple of years older than Mauge and while he had a very good spell at Sutton last season he didn't get a kick for Lincoln. Might be circumstances behind that, they're flying in League 1 etc but its a huge jump even to L1. Some of the most highly rated forwards at that level who score for fun, like Obi at United, Mheuka at Chelsea, even they're probably not ready for L1 despite getting some token minutes for their 1st teams. Its not impossible, but certainly not yet.
