 | Forum Thread | small Saïd Benrahma link at 11:05 27 Jan 2025
the last two sentences of the Guardian Rumour Mill are: Elsewhere, Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury is heading to Sheffield United; Everton and West Ham want to sign Ajax forward Brian Brobbey on loan; and former Hammer Saïd Benrahma will choose between a move to Ipswich Town or Saudi side Neom SC, a team named after the Gulf state’s desert megacity project. Decisions, decisions. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jan/27/football-transfer-rumours-manch |
 | Forum Thread | Sky say five in at 22:10 2 Jan 2025
But I don't really trust them as they also say Wolf might be off, which I think is unlikely. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12028/13275390/january-transfer-window-2 "Ipswich are another club looking to continue work from the summer and they would like to make as many as five new additions to help keep them in the Premier League. They are looking at strengthening down the right-hand side of the team, as well as looking at new strikers and midfielders. They had a £20m bid rejected by Middlesbrough for Emmanuel Latte Lath on Deadline Day but it remains to be seen if they will follow that up in this window. In central midfield they are looking for more depth after adding Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste on season-long loan deals. Two or three players may also leave the club in January. Cameron Burgess, Luke Woolfenden and Massimo Luongo see their contracts expire on June 30 so can speak to foreign clubs from January 1." |
 | Forum Thread | Ipswich Vs Palace on TV? (in a London pub...) at 16:51 29 Nov 2024
I think the upcoming Ipswich Vs Palace game is on Amazon Prime. I could watch this at home, but had hoped to meet a few friends to watch in a London pub. Does anyone know if this game is even allowed to be shown in a pub, and if so which in London it may be on at? |
 | Forum Thread | Talking Town podcast at 10:41 12 Nov 2024
I've started listening to some episodes of Talking Town this season, it's well made. But I can't understand for the life of me the opening line: "Hello my friends and you are my friends". It grates every time as it makes no sense grammatically, but maybe it has same creation story that will help me get less annoyed? What's it about? |
 | Forum Thread | Delap as super sub at 14:30 26 Oct 2024
Not sure if he's on the bench because carrying an injury or just tired because of so much on his shoulders ever game, but if he comes on at the 70 minutes mark he could be a handful for a tiring Brentford defence. Remember all those last minute goals we used to do so well.... |
 | Forum Thread | Best Prem Signings - O'Shea at 11:12 12 Oct 2024
A listicle in the Guardian on the best Summer Premier League signings. Was surprised Delap wasn't in, but O'Shea is at No.3: https://www.theguardian.com/football/who-scored-blog/2024/oct/12/best-signings-s 3) Dara O’Shea (Ipswich) – 7.18 rating While he was unable to prevent Ipswich from falling to a heavy 4-1 loss against West Ham prior to the international break, Dara O’Shea has proven a shrewd piece of business by the Tractor Boys. The 25-year-old is winning more aerial duels per game (4.8) than any other defender in the Premier League and while he is yet to be on the winning side for Ipswich following his arrival from Burnley, it’s only a matter of time before they’re able to claim a first victory following their return to the top flight. |
 | Forum Thread | Omari, future England no.10 at 01:06 5 Oct 2024
The Athletic report that Omari has pledged for England over Jamaica following Carsley taking over. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5818945/2024/10/04/omari-hutchinson-england-jam "It helps that Hutchinson already knows many of the England Under-21s players. He was called up for the first time last month and travelled to the camp despite having a minor injury that meant he had to withdraw after a few days. But the trip reassured Hutchinson he was making the right choice. It gave him the chance to see some familiar faces and have a positive conversation with interim head coach Ben Futcher. The latter was given the role after Lee Carsley was named interim head coach of the senior team in August. Carsley, who has a great chance of securing the main job more permanently, rates Hutchinson highly. There are no guarantees over what happens next, but the fact England have made such a concerted effort is a compliment to Hutchinson’s abilities in itself." |

Thinking about the transfer market fees today, and thought about what past Ipswich greats went for and what they would be worth in today's money. I wonder what we'd get for Mick Mills or Crawford today. I'd make a bid for Kiwomya, Brazil or Crawford to fill our number 9 shirt this season. Connor Wickham to Sunderland, 2011, for £8m: now £11.5m Kieron Dyer to Newcastle, 1999, for £6m: now £11.1m Titus Bramble to Newcastle, 2002, for £6m: now £10.8m Tyrone Mings to Bournemouth, 2015, for £8m: now £10.7m Aaron Cresswell to West Ham, 2014, for £3.75m: now £5m Darren Bent to Charlton, 2005, for £2.5m: now £4.29m Jason Dozzell to Spurs, 1993, for £1.9m: now £3.96m Richard Wright to Arsenal, 2001, for £2m: now £3.6m Dalian Atkinson to Villa, 1991, for £1.6m: now £3.57m Mauricio Taricco to Spurs, 1998, for £1.75m: now £3.29m Terry Butcher to Rangers, 1986, for £725: now £2.1m Chris Kiwomya to Arsenal, 1995, £1.25m: now £2.5m John Wark to Liverpool, 1984, for £713k: now £2.256m Alan Brazil to Tottenham, 1983, for £425,000: £1.4m Ray Crawford to Wolves, 1963, for £55k: now £973k Paul Mariner to Arsenal, 1984, for £160k: now £505k Mick Mills to Saints, 1982, £45k: now £155k |

If we are revisiting old flames that never quite worked out, like Chiedozie Ogbene, perhaps NOW is the time for Kevin Phillips? |

Crazy it's not delayed. I'm outside in a queue with thousands of others. Polite, but bad management |
 | Forum Thread | Away pub? at 18:07 28 Aug 2024
I'm now heading to Against the Grain, a small cidery and tap room I know near the ground. But if I get bored I wondered if there's an away pub tonight? (Even though TT I'm a home fan...) |
