Tanner Tessman link

Not a link I'd seen before. But knowing Fabrizio is fed things from agents and teams I don't know if there's much in it. 22 year old central midfielder

Getting the right players
at 23:11 12 Jul 2024

The Grieves interview is a good read (thanks Phil/Gav) and has interesting points about the club, the mentality of player McK is after, and the general mood of the place.

Even the players who were with us two years ago are on good money compared to most of us, but some of these new signings will be on the big "silly" money.

So it's nice to see that McK is really after players with the right characteristics, "humble" as Grieves said. His quote was quite telling I thought:

"I’ve spoken to the Kieran several times and those conversations have made me very excited for the future here. We spoke about tactics, playing style and life off the pitch and every time we’ve spoken it’s been spot on."

That is exactly the kind of player we want. Good on the pitch, but also aligned off it. I get kind of frustrated at all the TWTD comments on here re players like Philogene implying that if they don't love the club like we do we don't want them - it's their job, we are fans, it's a different relationship and to expect the same is odd.

But it's the kind of relationship McKenna asks about and Grieves aligns with that is important and will help us survive or better.

Newcastle PSR
at 12:48 29 Jun 2024

Lots of talk about Newcastle panicking about Monday's PSR cutoff.

Any players there you think Ipswich might try to get to help the Geordies out?

And, as a side, there's a real risk some clubs don't reach their psr needs, especially if the authorities "undo" the youth transfers three clubs did between each other to have the regulations. Would points deduction punishments hit next season, hypothetically?

Is the rumour I've heard true? That one of the Add-Ons for the Omari deal is a home friendly with Lazio?

Surprised to see him connected. Thought that had passed, though was a point of discussion a few months ago. But only today Fabrizio Romano was suggesting he was on his way to Southampton.

(Edited as I wrote West Ham and not Saints initially, when very very tired...)

Premier League Fixtures
at 16:24 16 Jun 2024

How nice to write "premier league" in a thread title after all these years...

Anway. The fixtures are announced in two days time.

Who do you want for the first and last games, and home or away?

I want a gentle start - maybe someone like Fulham at home.

At the end, presuming we will not be safely mid-table by then, obviously home and someone mid-table with nothing to play for, like Everton.

This is what I have expected, and hope it to be the case, and hope some of the very annoying people on here can get on with their lives and enjoy the summer when it finally arrives.

Premier League TV coverage
at 20:04 26 May 2024

I can't get to many games - or probably *any* considering the availability & cost next season.

But I want to watch them as & when I can.

I think that the Premier League split the games across not only Sky but various platforms & channels. So, those of you that already watch premier League, what's the best value/most affordable way to be able to catch Ipswich coverage?

I presume TownTV won't be showing games any more, and that Ipswich won't be on TV every week...

Oliver Glassner to Bayern Munich for €100m ...
at 17:07 19 May 2024

Likely not
But Bayern Munich apparently are interested in the recently appointed Crystal Palace manager (which, if it happened, would open whole new levels of anxiety on this board) but were quoted over €100m.

I get why managers command lower "transfer fees", because they can resign at any point and a player cannot. But someone like McKenna is way more important to Ipswich than any player at the moment, and if we are talking about £20m for Leif Davis, then it makes logical sense to think more for McKenna. (Logistically, not legally as per his contract).

With upcoming potential new Bosman-like legal challenges to footballers' working rights, which I *think* may in effect allow them to resign, like any other employee, it may increase the financial worth of managers in relation to players.

Ipswich Town's final game in Wallpaper* magazine

I wouldn't normally promote my own stuff on here, but this is what I was up to when Ipswich played the last game of the season, and it's probably the first time Ipswich Town have been mentioned in Wallpaper* magazine.

I know it's not the end of the season, but let's enjoy it a bit longer....

I have heard all the different commentaries, but not the Saints commentators when that goal went in. Is it a hard listen?

New Training Ground visuals & info in EADT

This was in the EADT earlier, sorry if it's a repost.

People were talking about the renders after it was briefly spotted in the investment announcement.

As I said before, i am sure the facilities will be top notch and will only help the players and attract better players. Architecture wise I find it all very meh. It's by KKA who I presume Ashton has shares in as he gave them a lot of work in Bristol too and it will all stand up and be functional, but that's as far as I can say about what their work reads like: https://kka.studio/projects/sports-leisure/

10/1

I am not saying it will or expecting it to happen, but title odds of 10/1 are good if you're a betting person, lots of football to be played over the next 8 & 9 games.

Leicester 8/15
Leeds 5/2
Ipswich 10/1
Norwich 2500/1
