Vets bills 06:08 - Jan 28 with 322 viewsgtsb1966

It's good to see that vets practices may have to publish their prices but to me there is one thing that really pees me off when I take my dogs and that is the cost of the medication especially when you see how much you can get it for online. Problem being there though is you need a prescription and our local vet charges £35 a time. Something that really stands out in this article though is that 60% of practices are not owned by vets and that's where I think the real problem lies.

Piss take isn't it? We had the same issue, some expensive medication we could get way cheaper but they'll only give us this branded stuff which has a beef taste in it. And when we asked for a prescription they'd do one for a charge but we'd have to come in every month to get it.

Such an obvious money grab.

Its a rip off, this is going back 10 years now so may have changed but our old vet did this so we moved to pets at home vets in BSE and they only charged £6 a prescription which covered for 3 months so we could then buy online, its worth shopping around.
Luckily our Vet here in Spain writes us human medication as the prescription which is exactly the same and it costs us €3 per month instead of €38!

Exactly what they won't do here. My dog is on Fluoxetine, a generic medication but they won't give us a prescription for that. Have to get the very expensive beef flavoured variety.

Which just gets crushed up into food all the same.
