What an enormously frustrating afternoon that was 18:25 - Jan 31 with 264 viewsDubtractor

Teams that come and set up like that have always been McKenna's kryptonite, right back to the league one days, and it had all the signs of a classic 0-1 smash and grab before they even scored, so to get a draw at least takes something from the day.

We got in a number of really good positions in the first half, yet failed to even get a shot off most of the time, let alone test the (really flappy) Cornell in goal for them. But even then we were playing at such a slow pace that it was too easy for them to get set in their shape and keep us at arms length. When we are playing this type of team we absolutely have to attack more quickly when they turnover possession in our half.

Cajuste is the perfect example of a player who flatters to deceive. In a game where we have all the possession you really want the more creative of the two midfielders to be pulling the strings, but it was so pedestrian from him.

For the billionth time I will say that if we don't get a decent striker before the transfer window closes then we won't get top two. Hirst just looks shot to be honest - that miss from Memeti's ball across was dreadful. Azon's link play was great in the first half, and we looked a less convincing team with him taken off (assume a knock?), but he doesn't look like scoring goals.

Aside from our performance, that was once of the worst referee performances I've seen in a long time, he got so much wrong it was amazing. I'm usually fairly reserved in terms of my emotions at the ground, but I properly lost it when he called back for the foul in the second half, with him seeing the ball end up with Clarke in a really good attacking position before deciding to blow up. I noticed that someone on our bench (McKenna?) got booked for evidently also losing it about that.

All that said, we got a point out of it, showed a bit of character in doing so and probably ought to have nicked it.

Really important that we get a win against Portsmouth on Tuesday though.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
