God give me strength.

Perhaps they'd like to do the stats for Mick crab ball at the end?

We've never had it so good and people are moaning. Unbelievable.

There was an interesting article about Hull City a week or so ago, talking about how they are outperforming XG etc. McBurnie and Gelhardt are massively outperforming the xG "stats", and as a result are dragging them up the table.

Stats are a great tool for identifying trends, averages and similar data sets to benchmark performance, but are of less use in sport prediction and analysis where often the difference between sides is a moment of individual brilliance.

It's true we are in the position we are in because of some moments of brilliance from the likes of Philogene and Clarke - but the point that seems to be missed is *THAT IS WHY WE BOUGHT THEM*, to deliver those special moments, to ignore that fact misses the point of sport and why we watch and love it surely?

Is predictable and purchasable brilliance what we love about sport? 😉 I'm a sucker for terrible goals and unlikely candidates, me.

Connecting to the original post, for sure, there's little luck in those two having scored as many as they have. They're simply top players for the level, priced accordingly when we bought them. But we bought and loaned others with the intention that their goal share wouldn't be so high, such that people wouldn't perceive an over-reliance. And had those others delivered similar output for their cost then we'd be almost promoted by now. Hey ho, football would be much the worse if investment guaranteed success; it's loaded the dice much too much already.

How about that was an extraordinary season that even the so called experts were surprised about , each individual season is unique in its own right .
A little behind were we would like but all is not lost .

This, have to check myself a few times and remind myself how bad it was with Skuse & Douglas on the pitch.
