There was more to it than the 1 - 2 scoreline. It applied pressure to the Coventry performance an hour later and resulted in them stuttering to a goalless draw against a resilient oxford defence, and tomorrow it will also be on the minds of a Middlesborough team as they take on the resurgence of Sheffield United.
Much more than the scoreline, and the aspect which will have pleased Kieron McKenna the most was our own resilience to a very physical side , not only did we stand up to them , we out Muscled their midfield , ruffled their centre backs and pressurised their game play . It is no coincidence that the outcome of this was a quiet afternoon for Christian Walton , who had to face a very debatable penalty , but little else.
Hopefully this new found strength will continue and develop in the hands of, Furlong and Taylor and Kipre . Showing that standing their ground can bring the same benefits as the skill and panache of Clarke and Philogene. |  |
