Two things strike me. Firstly his utter disregard of the concept of trade and trade partners - others are enemies to be shaken down and the closer they once were the more of an enemy they are.
Secondly his disregard of those inside the US that question his actions. He was full of praise towards the two Supreme Court judges that backed him and conspiracy hate towards those that didn’t. He will now thrash out and go after his latest enemies and try to punish other countries too.
Add in an impending strike on Iran (he’s not sailed his toys to the area for fun) and he really is a sandwich short of a picnic. He loves chaos and volatility yet business hates it. He loves adoration, praise, bullying others and rinsing them in turn and most important, not being challenged.
How on earth he became the most powerful man in the world is beyond me but something Americans should ask themselves as well as how they could respect and admire such a person.
The US is UKs no 1 trading partner by country. (17.5%). While I understand why Starmer has been brown nosing the man for over a year, I hope the government is quietly taking steps to distance itself from the US as others have. I have my doubts given this government’s inertia on everything bar shoring up its own support.
