Fair play to Wrexham, they were the better side yesterday and deserved the three points. Even Leif admitted they wanted it more than us. Put it behind us and move on.
But it got me thinking, how does our summer and Jan transfer business compare to Wrexham? They spent about £33m over the summer and £5m in Jan on some really solid signings like Moore, Windass, Broady, Sheaf, Doyle, O’Brien and Vyner. None exceptional but all good Championship level players who have seemed to gel as a team.
We spent £30m on Egeli and McAteer alone, both of which appear to play in the same position. Egeli was a massive gamble that hasn’t yet and may never pay off and Leicester must’ve laughed their tits off getting £12m for McAteer. The parachute payments can be an advantage but not if you spend the money unwisely which we have. Even Nunez has been disappointing after the elation of taking the Scum’s best creative player off them has died down. Matusiwa, Mehmeti and Kipre look like our best transfer business but we’ve had more misses than hits imho. |  |
