Connection with this years team 13:26 - Mar 11 with 398 viewsSuperBobbyPetta

I've always been an Ipswich fan, a season ticket holder in the 90's then a watcher, fan and follower from mainly further afield. I was drawn back in as my son showed more interest and felt totally connected to the league 1 and championship side/players in terms of approach/attitude/style of play - the bond of the group with the community and fans on and off the field. This second (maybe third?) iteration of the team has been a bit harder to connect with IMO. Having said that, last night was probably the performance for me that's got me into that 'all-in' space again. Watching O'Shea's reaction to the 3rd goal, Mehmeti and Leif as we pressed for a second goal, or Taylor's joy at his strike (and the reaction of the side when he made the mistake) - that's the sort of togetherness, passion I want to see and that gets me invested - that makes getting back at 2:30am and heading off to work this morning all worth. We might go up automatically, we might go up through the play-offs, we might not get either but really excited to see what the rest of this season brings!!

I think people sometimes forget that it took a while for people to fall in love with the 2021-2024 team as well. Plenty of questions being asked of the manager and players over jan/feb 2023, and it wasnt until the unbeaten run at the end of that season that people really fell in love with the team. It was helped that of the four new faces in Jan, one was an old player, one was a lifelong town fan and two were clearly playing a league below their ability. Of the new players in 23/24, it was only really Sarmiento (thanks to one magical moment) and Hutchinson that really gained the adoration of the fans.
